Bridge to Haiti Trip: March 11 - 21, 2011
From March 11-21, 2011, a team of 24 men and women went to Cabaret, Haiti to be the hands and feet of Jesus and to show God’s love to the people of Haiti. In partnership with Mission to Haiti Canada (MTHC), the team distributed food to the hungry, ran a Vacation Bible School (VBS), conducted a medical clinic, and did construction work.
Working side by side with Haitians, friendships were formed and lives were changed for the glory of God.
Highlights of the trip include:
- Two weeks of food distributed to 700 families
- 500 children able to learn about Jesus (many for the first time)
- A completed bridge to allow better access to the ministry campus of Presbyterian Church in Cabaret, with whom MTHC partners
- Roof trusses built for several homes for families displaced by flooding and earthquakes
- 300 people treated for illnesses, burns, infections, parasites, and complications from malnutrition and starvation
- French children’s book library started for a school in Cabaret
- 50 orphans and children in the community sponsored (education and a meal a day) by members of the bridge community
