Special Members’ Meeting
March 29, 2026 12:45 PM
- 2:00 PM

*Please register for the Members’ Meeting by Wednesday, March 25th.
In January, we shared with the congregation that the Board and Pastoral Search Committee had begun a prayerful, structured process to discern God’s direction for the next Lead Pastor. This included a workshop with Nelson & Kraft, a faith based recruitment firm, to clarify the church’s vision, the leadership profile needed, and the two-way discernment regarding our current Interim Lead Pastor, Sam Mills.
Since then, the Pastoral Search Committee has continued to prayerfully and carefully discern God’s direction for the bridge, ensuring that every step is aligned with our by-laws and guided by prayer and wise counsel (Proverbs 3:5–6): “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
What has happened so far:
A comprehensive Lead Pastor job description was developed to reflect both current needs and future direction.
Sam Mills applied and submitted his CV for consideration.
Sam participated in extensive interviews with the Search Committee and the Board.
References were checked, and a Birkman Personality Assessment was completed to provide further insight.
This has been a two-way discernment process. Sam has prayerfully considered his calling, and the Committee and Board have prayerfully considered his fit for the bridge. Sam has expressed a clear conviction that God is leading him to serve here.
Recommendation:
The Search Committee has recommended that Sam Mills be presented as the sole candidate for Lead Pastor.
Next Steps—Special Members’ Meeting:
Date & Time: Sunday, March 29th at 1:00 p.m. (check-in to begin at 12:45pm)
Purpose: To vote on Sam Mills as Lead Pastor.
Motion that will be voted on: It is moved that the membership accept the report and recommendation of the Search Committee, which has been unanimously approved by the Board, and elect Sam Mills as the new permanent Lead Pastor of the bridge.
Further information about Sam will be shared in the coming weeks. The Board and Communication Team are committed to providing regular updates to help all members stay informed and prayerfully prepared for this important meeting. If you have any questions before the Special Members’ Meeting, please contact the Board at board@thebridgemarkham.com.
We move forward with reverence for this responsibility and with confidence that God continues to guide His Church. Please join us in prayer for wisdom, clarity, and unity during this important season.
