WHY A SUMMER FOOD DRIVE?

Historically, the leanest time of the year for Canadian food banks is July to August. Let’s help Markham Food Bank and RISE Support Center fill the gap this summer so they can continue supporting individuals and families in need across our community.

This year, in addition to donating to the Markham Food Bank, we are also supporting RISE Support Center, which provides free and confidential care before, during, and after unexpected or challenging pregnancies, as well as following reproductive loss due to abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, or adoption.

Help us reach our donation total of 700 bags!

GET INVOLVED!

Consider purchasing some of the items listed on the shopping list as an individual or with your family. Plan an outing with your LifeGroup to shop as a group. Reach out and invite neighbours, teammates, or co-workers to fill a bag. When we work together, we can accomplish much more for the many people in need within our local community.

Things to note:

  • Stick to the lists as closely as possible—they reflect the current needs of our partner organizations.

  • Ensure items are not expired.

  • Please do not bring food items that require refrigeration.

  • Bulk or larger sized items are welcome, though 2–3 regular sized packages can be more easily shared

We need volunteers after service on June 15 and June 22 to help collect and sort food donations as they come in. Please consider giving a bit of your time—we can’t do this without you!
